Content in the AI era — what changed?
Search engines and AI assistants (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity) increasingly answer users without a click to your site. This is not the end of SEO — but content must be clear to algorithms and humans: solid structure, concrete answers, credible sources.
“Writing for AI” is not generating fluff with ChatGPT — it is deliberate content design that AI can cite and Google considers valuable. Practical tips for companies and bloggers below.
Structure that AI reads easily
Use logical hierarchy: H1 → H2 → H3, short paragraphs, bullet lists, comparison tables, FAQ at the end. Each section should answer a specific question. Avoid filler — language models and search engines prefer direct answers.
Add schema.org (FAQPage, Article, HowTo) — it helps indexing and increases chances of rich results and citations in AI Overviews.
E-E-A-T — experience, authority, trust
Google and AI filters favor content from real experts. Sign articles with a name, show experience, case studies, publish and update dates. Link to sources, data, research. Avoid anonymous “from nothing” texts — AI increasingly detects generic content.
At WebLives I use this model: articles based on 10+ years of development practice, not rewritten Wikipedia. That builds trust with people and algorithms.
llms.txt, RSS, and signals for AI crawlers
An llms.txt file in the site root is a map of key URLs for language models — services, FAQ, articles, contact. Complement it with article RSS, an up-to-date sitemap, and robots.txt with a clear policy for bots (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, etc.).
It is not magic — but it helps AI find your best content instead of random subpages. Keep consistent meta descriptions and canonical URLs too.
Using AI in writing — ethically and effectively
AI can: research, draft outlines, improve style, translate. AI should not: publish without fact-checking, mass-generate thin content, copy competitors. A human must edit — add experience, examples, current data, brand tone.
Google officially does not penalize “AI content” as such — it penalizes low-value content. Quality, uniqueness, and usefulness matter regardless of tool.
User questions and long-tail for AI search
Users increasingly ask conversationally: “how much does a WooCommerce store cost?” instead of “WooCommerce store price”. Write content answering natural questions — FAQ sections, question-style headings, concrete numbers and ranges where possible.
Tools: Google Search Console (queries), AnswerThePublic, your own client questions by email and phone — the best article topic source.
